Build Social Homes

Build Social Homes

Australia in the midst of a housing emergency. And people on the lowest incomes are hurting the most.

Yet this Government is giving away an eye-watering amount of money to the top end of town, instead of building the social homes we so desperately need.

Right now, we have a chance to change course. The Treasurer is in the process of putting together the next Federal Budget, and together, we must demand greater investment in social housing.

Building social homes benefits everyone. It gets housing to people in need, and it frees up more affordable rentals for everyone else.

There are 640,000 families in need of social housing, and 122,000 people experiencing homelessness on any given night. These figures are set to blow out even further if we don’t act now.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to fix the housing system for good. But it’s going to take all of us to ensure the government delivers for those most in need.

Will you take a moment to email to the Treasurer, telling him to cancel the tax cuts and build social homes instead?

  • Writing your own subject line and message is more impactful than a form letter.
  • Keep your message short and punchy – a couple of simple sentences explaining why you care is perfect.
  • Include something personal – how does the housing crisis impact you?
  • Include a call-to-action – what do you want them to do?
